Australia’s North West

A visit to Australia's North West will take you through some of the world’s most amazing untouched wilderness areas, giving you a real Australian outback experience.

North West Australia is split into two areas of breathtaking natural beauty, the Kimberley region and the Pilbara region.

The Kimberley region is a truly unique wilderness adventure that captures the imagination. Covering nearly 423,000 square kilometres, this ancient region has fewer people per square kilometre than almost any other place on Earth.

Kimberley adventures can be experienced in every corner of the region, from the famous beehive-shaped Bungle Bungle Range, to the magnificent Mitchell River National Park and the beautiful waterways of Geike Gorge National Park. Visit theancient cave systems at Tunnel Creek Natonal Park or walk through the spectacular Windjana Gorge. See the vast inland sea of Lake Argyle or explore one of the world’s largest meteorite craters at Wolfe Creek Crater National Park.

Some of the towns to visit are Broome, Derby, Wyndham and Kununarra.

The Pilbara region in Western Australia has some of the world’s most ancient natural landscapes, dating back two billion years and stretching over 400,000 square kilometres.

Deep rocky canyons lead to peaceful plunge pools in the beautiful Karijini National Park. Hundreds of islands with dazzling white beaches and untouched coral gardens are yours to explore on the Dampier Archipelago and Mackerel Islands.
