Cleve welcomes you

Cleve is located on the Eyre Peninsula, south of Whyalla. This small township is the rural heart of the Eyre Peninsula, with its major industries being agriculture and retail.

Cleve’s history dates back to the 1850’s. The area was seen as good wheat and sheep country, but the harshness of the environment and the loneliness of the Eyre Peninsula discouraged women settlers. The first female to arrive in Cleve was nine years after her husband.

Cleve is a small community with an attractive main street. On the corner of Main and Fourth Streets is a wall mural depicting agriculture in the district since the early 1900’s. The National Trust Agricultural and Folk Museum is located in the old Council Chambers in Third Street and is open upon request. The Lions Centenary Park is just the place for a barbeque or picnic.

The Visitor Information Centre is located at the Council Office in Main Street and the staff will be able to help you with brochures and information to make your stay in the area enjoyable.

Parking is accessible in Cleve, with the area at Apex Park at the end of Main Street available for casual parking. The Dump Point is available at the Field Day Site in Rudall Road. Short and long term parking can be found just six kilometres from town at The Weir.

Eyre Peninsula Field Days is a three day major event held every second year at the Rudall Road Field Day site. This is a great opportunity to experience the agricultural industry of the area.

There is a good supermarket for groceries, fruit and vegetables. The Cleve Hotel/Motel has a dining room, and the Cleve Roadhouse Restaurant on Cowell Road caters for eat in or take away.

A Goodyear Auto Care Centre is situated in Main Street for tyres, batteries and auto electrics, as well as Repco Auto Parts being located in Fourth Street.

The Cleve Roadhouse caters to all your fuel needs and gas bottle refills. Potable water is available at the Apex Park.

Cleve has all medical facilities, including a medical centre and hospital. The pharmacy at 23 Main Street has an excellent range of products and prescription service.

There are two banks in Main Street along with ATM's, and a post office for your mailing needs. You can also visit the local library.

Cleve and its surrounding district, has everything from the magnificent scenery of the plains and mountains to the seaside beauty of Arno Bay. Go sailing and fishing on the coast, enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains and Spencer Gulf.
